A number of pupils and members of staff are being treated by paramedics after being sprayed with an irritant at Fulwood Academy.
Emergency services were called to the school after the incident unfolded in a classroom at 2.35pm.
It is believed a girl who is a pupil at the school, sprayed the substance.
Two ambulances, an urgent care vehicle, a rapid response vehicle and an operational commander from North West Ambulance Service are currently at the scene.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at around 2:45pm by the Ambulance Service to the report that a number of pupils and a member of staff had been sprayed with a substance at Fulwood Academy on Black Bull Lane, Preston.
“It is believed that a female pupil has sprayed the substance – which although has not been confirmed, is believed to be some form of irritant – in a classroom.”
Paramedics are currently at the scene treating those affected.
