Preston 10k has been rescheduled for October 20

A new date has been set for the cancelled City of Preston 10k which was called off due to extreme weather on Sunday.

Organisers said parts of the route would not be safe due to flooding and slippery conditions.

Now the Running Bee Foundation has rescheduled the race to take place on Sunday October 20 at 10am.

All entries from the original race will be honoured and new places will be available for additional runners to take part.

Stephen Owen, Foundation Operations Manager said: “Unfortunately we had no option but to cancel Sunday’s race.

“The route in parts was ankle deep with water despite our efforts during the night before and early hours to clear the course, the weather beat us.

“I would like to personally thank all the runners, staff and volunteers for supporting our decision and we hope to welcome all the runners back on Sunday 20th October for a bigger and better event.’’
