Fulwood Academy will be open tomorrow (Thursday) after several pupils and members of staff were treated by paramedics.
Emergency services were called to the school in Black Bull Lane at around 2.30pm after a pupil sprayed an ‘irritant’ in class.
It is not known what the substance was but it was thought to be pepper spray or similar.
Philip Grant, Principal of Fulwood Academy said: âWe have had an incident in a class this afternoon which involved an irritant substance.
“The emergency services were immediately called as a precaution and is routine procedure.
âAll the children directly involved in the incident have been checked over by the paramedics and later discharged into parental care.
“Thank you to those parents who have offered their help and support. The incident has now been closed and the school is open as usual tomorrow.”
