Fire crews at large blaze in Cottam

Six fire engines are at the scene in Sandy Lane, Cottam

Residents are being advised to keep their doors and windows closed while fire crews tackle a large fire at a derelict building in Cottam.

Six fire engines are tackling the blaze at the property in Sandy Lane.

Crews from Fulwood, Preston, Penwortham and Bamber Bridge were called to the scene at 6pm.

They are using an aerial ladder platform, a Stinger and the air support unit to tackle the fire on the first floor and roof of the building.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “If you’re nearby, keep your windows and doors closed to avoid any smoke.”
