Arrest made in hunt for Preston rapist

A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after an 18-year-old was attacked on a night out in Preston.


35-year-old man from Salford was arrested in the Broughton area of Manchester this morning.

Following the attack on a grassy area close to the bus station, in the early hours of September 22, police released CCTV in a bid to trace the attacker.

DI Fiona Jackson

Det Insp Fiona Jackson urged the public to help identify the man, saying: “Someone knows who he is.”

Following the appeal, a man is now in custody and will be questioned in due course.
