Armed police are out in Preston

Armed officers have taken to the streets of Preston following a serious incident in Manchester.

Four people were injured during a multiple stabbing in the Arndale Centre and a man has been arrested by anti-terror police.

Lancashire Police have confirmed there is not believed to be any link to Preston and the officers are on the streets to reassure the public.

They said: “Our thoughts are with all those affected by today’s events in Manchester and our emergency services colleagues at the scene.

“There’s no suggestion of any link to Lancashire but you may see our armed officers in busy areas.

“Please don’t be worried – they are there to reassure you.”
