Age Concern expand their services into Buckshaw Village with new shop opening on Lancaster Way.
The new retail shop will be open to the public on Friday 6 September and will be a welcome new addition to Age Concern’s existing portfolio of established shops.
Head of Retail Bel Fry said: “Our new shop is situated within a popular area of Buckshaw. The new premises will sit between popular brands Dominos Pizza and Costa Coffee and behind Aldi supermarket. The abundance of free parking will make dropping off donations, accessing information and support about services and shopping even easier. We are thrilled to be joining the local community.”
Last year Age Concern’s retail shops saved 62 tonnes of preloved items going in landfills, provided hundreds of volunteering hours for people wanting to give something back, make friends or build new skills ready for employment, and generated thousands of pounds of revenue. Funds went directly back into Age Concern’s award winning dementia services and supporting its non-funded services such as the befriending and Access to Benefits.
From Friday 13 September Age Concern partnered with McClure Solicitors will be providing free Will and Will Review Clinics from the shop every week. These clinics along with other advice sessions, such as Lasting Powers of Attorney, will be available to book online through Age Concern’s new website www.ageisjustanumber.org.uk or by calling 01772 552886.
Extreme cake maker, Rosie Dummer, who is helping Age Concern open their new shop, said: “I was honoured to be asked by Age Concern to open up their new shop in Buckshaw. Charity shops play such an important role on our high streets and in our communities. I have recently donated some of my preloved clothes and baking utensils to the charity and know these will get saved from landfill and go to a home where it will help other people… maybe a future extreme cake maker!”
