Shankly

If you’re out in town tonight, keep your eye out for new kid on the block Shankly.

Preston Police’s newest recruit will be on the city’s streets serving out ‘ruff’ justice to criminals who bring drugs into the city centre.

Funded by Preston Business Improvement District, Shankly is a trained drugs detection dog – and he’s not just a cute set of paws.

A Preston Police spokesperson said: “Shankley’s training is to seek out and indicate the smell of controlled drugs and in early August this year.

“On his first deployment in the city he was very successful, assisting in the recovery of drugs and an offensive weapon.”

Shankly has been deployed by Preston-based H&A Protection Services Limited, a company that provides dogs and services to police forces across the UK.

Shankly will be out and about in Preston city centre on various nights between now and Christmas sniffing out illegal substances.
