A Preston charity says it is experiencing vandalism at its premises “every other day”.

Dig In North West, which provides peer-to-peer support for the military community, is based in the Ashton Park Walled Garden in Pedders Lane.

A post on Dig In North West’s Facebook page showed photos of recent damage.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “It’s just an ongoing thing. It seems we come in to some sort of damage every other day.

“The yard is accessible to kids with nothing better to do than cause damage. What can you do but carry on.

“The police have been informed and they have increased patrols but they can’t be everywhere. Hopefully things will ease off.”

Dig In North West’s Facebook followers reacted with anger.

David Roe said: “This has gotta stop we need a night patrol !!!! And better fences it’s gone on to long evil nasty people.” Katie Eames added: “This is ridiculous! What do these idiots get out of it. Hope it’s not too costly to fix/replace.”

The walled garden was built by armed forces veterans, and opened in 2013. It provides opportunities for gardening and woodworking, or just having a chat with a brew.
