Fire crews are tackling a blaze at Recycling Lives in Longridge Road.

Residents are being advised to keep their doors and windows closed and police have closed part of Longridge Road due to smoke.

Seven fire engines from Preston, Penwortham, Bamber Bridge, Longridge, Leyland and Fulwood as well as the Stinger from Blackburn and aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn were called to the scene at 10.20pm tonight (Friday August 30).

A LFRS spokesman said: “There is a lot of smoke in the area and residents are advised to remain indoors and keep windows and doors closed.”

A spokesman for Preston Police added: “Please be aware that we are dealing with an ongoing incident and as a result, Longridge Road has been closed between the Preston Cremetorium and the roundabout junction with Bluebell Way.

“As well as avoiding this area, for public safety we would also ask that the adjacent section of the guild wheel also be avoided.”
