Road closures are in place as fire crews continue to tackle the blaze at Preston Recycling Lives.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue say they have reduced the number of engines at the incident from seven to five, however the road and the Guild Wheel remains shut.
Last night Preston Police confirmed Longridge Road had been closed between the Preston Crematorium and the roundabout junction with Bluebell Way.
Fire crews are likely to be at the Longridge Road site throughout today.
A LFRS spokesperson said: “The fire site measured 50m x 50m and was mainly involving recycling material from road vehicles.”
Recycling Lives tweeted: “We’re continuing to work alongside the emergency services to deal with a fire at our Preston Recycling Park tonight. We are grateful to Lancs Fire and Rescue’s teams and our own, who are implementing our critical event protocols.”
Last night residents were advised to stay indoors due to large volumes of smoke in the area.
