Hundreds of people sleeping out at Deepdale Stadium to raise thousands of pounds for The Foxton Centre will be joined by Conservative councillors.

Preston Tories are entering a team of seven and aiming to raise hundreds of pounds towards the £50,000 total.

The Big PNE Sleep Out, which takes place on Friday 15 November, will raise money towards the Foxton’s Housing First fund.

This will see the money put towards buying a house, hopefully in the Deepdale area, which is done up and puts a roof over the head of rough sleepers.

Sharoe Green councillor Daniel Duckworth said: “I think the Big PNE Sleep Out is an amazing cause and The Foxton Centre should be applauded for the work they do with the homeless in Preston.

“It is a shame we still have people who are homeless in Britian in 2019.

“However I feel the more positive work that is done and awareness that is raised by the likes of the street pastors and the foxton centre and many other other organisations in Preston who do amazing work with the homeless better.

“Hopefully in our role as city councillors we can play out part in raising awareness of events like this and raising money for the amazing and positive venture that the Foxton Centre is doing and I know many of our team would actually like to sleep on the street for the night to experience that also which is important when you are representing the amazing people (including the people who are homeless) in Preston which is a privilage in its own right.”

Councillors taking part include David Walker, Ron Woollam, Maxwell Green, Charles Latchford and Keith Middlebrough.

You can donate on the Conservative group’s fundraising page, or you can make a donation more generally to support the Big PNE Sleep Out.
