A man charged with ‘despicable’ burglaries has been jailed.
Colin Hannan was sentenced to three years and four months in prison.
During a sentencing at Preston Crown Court the 49-year-old, of no fixed abode, the court heard how Hannan had brazenly carried out one of his burglaries while a young family were present in the house.
Preston Police said the first burglary took place in Plungington Road on May 2 and valuables were taken.
And on May 19 Hannan entered a property in Linton Street through an insecure window and took a number of items. This was despite a young family being present in the house.
Hannan was linked by forensics to both burglaries which occurred during daylight hours. Police had appealed to trace him on 18 June and had charged him by 20 June.
PC Sam Patel said: “South Burglary Team will not tolerate burglaries being committed in their local community and will do their utmost best to identify those responsible.
“These were despicable crimes and we hope Hannan’s sentence provides some justice to the victims.”
