A fascinating weekend to be able to explore everything from observatories to the secrets of Winckley Square is being held in the city.

Heritage Open Days is back for another year and the annual event sees 30 different venues taking part over the two days.

Explore how Plau bar has preserved the city’s gin-making heritage, or why a Fulwood primary school’s unique classroom is now a listed structure.

All tours and events are free and take place on Saturday 14 September and Sunday 15 September.

There’s also two events on the following weekend with a tour of the St Thomas of Canterbury & the English Martyrs Church on Saturday 21 September and a Haslam Park heritage walk on Sunday 22 September.
