Woman arrested following Penwortham bridge fall

A 26-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance after she fell from a bridge in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to Penwortham Way at 4.45am to reports of a concern for safety of woman on the bridge.

A police spokeswoman said: “A woman came off the bridge and landed on a stationary lorry.

“She has been taken to hospital – she is not believed to be seriously injured.” 

The road reopened shortly before 7am.
