As temperatures rise in Preston a homeless shelter has made an appeal for bottled water.

The Foxton Centre is asking kind-hearted Prestonians to donate bottled water to be handed out to the city’s rough sleepers.

A heatwave is seeing temperatures of up to 30 degrees in Preston and for dozens of people sleeping rough dyhdration is a serious issue.

Foxton chief executive Jeff Marsh said: “Since we put the appeal out we’ve already had two donations within about half-an-hour.

“It is great how kind people are in this city.

“Everyone needs to be careful in this weather and we will do out bit with people who are on the streets.”
