A second night of stop and searching by police has been activated.

It follows a car chase and fight in Deepdale during Saturday (20 July) afternoon.

Preston Police have confirmed they have reactivated the Section 60 powers.

This gives police the ability to search people or vehicles without the need for suspicion.

A police spokesman said: “This should not overly concern people. It’s not about targeting people, but is about making sure we do all we can to keep people safe.”

Police can use the powers when they believe violence could take place.

It’s the second night of the Section 60 order being in force, and covers an area across Fulwood, Deepdale, Ribbleton and down into Fishwick.

The Section 60 is in place through until 6am on Monday (22 July).
