Police say a violent convicted criminal could be in Preston.

Michael Doherty absconded from HMP Kirkham during Saturday 29 June.

He was jailed in November 2018 at Chester Crown Court for offences including burglary and dangerous driving.

The 27-year-old is described as white, 6’2″, medium build, with brown eyes and dark wavy hair.

He has an Irish accent and a tattoo with ‘Mary’ on his left arm.

Lancashire Police say he has links to Manchester, Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Lancashire, Cheshire and Essex.

He could be violent and people are advised not to approach him.

A police spokesman said: “Doherty is wanted by police after absconding from prison.

“We are advising people not to approach him but instead contact police immediately.

“If you have any information about his whereabouts please come forward.”
