Police say two attacks in Plungington during Sunday were linked

Police have released details about two targeted attacks in Plungington during Sunday.

Two men attacked a man with metal bars during an attack in Haysworth Street.

It took place around 2.45pm and the man in his 30s suffered a cut to his head.

A second, linked incident, then took place in Ripon Street during Sunday (21 July) evening.

Preston Police say around 6.45pm two men assaulted a man in his 20s when he returned home to a property in the street.

The victim suffered a head injury and serious injuries to his arm and elbow. He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

Two 22-year-old women from Preston have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and have now been released under investigation.

A police spokeswoman said: “Our enquiries are ongoing but we would like to reassure members of the public that in both cases we believe the attacks were targeted and that there is no wider threat.”
