A dog was rescued from a hot car in Preston during Tuesday.
AdvertisementPreston Police say they gained entry to the vehicle after seeing a ‘cute dog in distress in the back of the car’.
The puppy was taken to Preston Police Station to be checked over.
A police spokesman said: “Officers have provided strong words of advice to the owner who had left the puppy in the car whilst going to watch a movie.
“They have been educated on the risks and now understand how their mistake could have provided significantly different.
“We would like to use this incident to remind people to not leave dogs in hot cars. It takes only minutes for your dog to become extremely unwell in this searing heat!”
Police have referred the incident to the RSPCA.

The animal charity will now conduct welfare checks and work with the owner to prevent the dog being taken to kennels.
