A stop and search order for a large swathe of Preston was stood down during Sunday morning.

Preston Police have revealed more about the incident which triggered the use of the Section 60 powers.

This gave officers the ability to stop and search anyone without suspicion for a 12-hour period from Saturday (20 July) evening. Police have now activated the Section 60 throughout Sunday evening and into Monday (22 July) morning.

A police spokesman confirmed to Blog Preston: “We had a report that a group in a BMW had chased another vehicle on to St Thomas Rd and there had been an altercation.

“One person went to hospital but no life threatening injuries.”

It’s thought a number of people were arrested but police have no details on them at this stage.

The police spokesman continued: “We are pleased to say that while we did carry out a number of searches there were no further incidents of disorder.”

The public have been thanked for their ‘support and co-operation’ during the stop and search order.
