An outdoor skills school is launching new nature experiences in Fulwood’s Highgate Wood.

The Woodland School Ltd will be running weekly sessions designed to develop children both physically and mentally through free play and themed activities.

A free family launch event will take place on Sunday 14 July from 10.30am to 1.30pm at Highgate Wood. Activities will include slack lines, climbing, hammocks, mud painting, fairy wing creations, fossils and nature quizzes.

The weekly bookable sessions will start on Tuesday 23 July in six-week blocks.

The Woodland Explorer Minis session will take place from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Aimed at one to five year olds, the sessions will include songs, games, stories, crafts and free play, and are designed to allow the children to explore their own limits, make new friends, enjoy nature and have fun.

The Woodland Explorer Rangers session is open to children aged five to ten years old. Taking place from 4.30pm to 6pm, this group session will start to push the children’s physical and mental boundaries, helping them explore the natural world and learn new skills including team work and use of tools.
