A book that promises to “fill a void for Game of Thrones fans” is launching at a free event at UCLan.

The Harm Tree is the first in what’s described as an epic new fantasy series, which is being published by UCLan Publishing. It is set in a world still recovering from one war and on the brink of another.

Author Rose Edwards is in the UK for a short time and will be at the exclusive event to read extracts, answer audience questions and sign copies of the book.

Hazel Holmes from UCLan Publishing said: “After the success of AJ Hartley’s Cold Bath Street, this was the first book we bought from a literary agent for our commercial business and we’re very excited about it.

“Rose is a huge talent and when she attended our Northern Young Adult Literary Festival earlier this year, she signed copies of the Harm Tree for more than two hours.

“She’s had great reviews and we’re looking forward to introducing her to a Preston audience.”

Review: Cold Bath Street is a perfect Preston ghost story

The event will take place on Monday 22 July from 6pm to 7pm in UCLan’s Harrington Social Space in Harrington Building. It is free to attend but places are limited so people are asked to register online via Eventbrite.

Will you be going to the event? Let us know in the comments below.
