Man on a roof closes road in Ashton-on-Ribble

A road in Ashton-on-Ribble was sealed off by emergency services.

Preston Police had negotiators on scene due to a man on a roof.

Parker Street in Ashton was closed off.

A police spokeswoman said: “We were called at shortly after 2:30pm relating to concerns for the safety of a man on the roof of a property on Parker Street.

“Negotiators are at the scene speaking to the man. The incident is on-going.”

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are also at the incident with two crews on standby.

The road was closed where it meets Blackpool Road.

Police used the extended fire service ladder to go up and speak to the man.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the man was brought safely down from the roof around 5.30pm. No arrests have been made.
