Man arrested after fight in Deepdale between two gangs

A man remains in custody after a fight between two rival gangs in the city.

Preston Police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of affray after the scrap in Deepdale.

It triggered police to issue a Section 60 order, for stop and search, across the city on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Around 3pm on Saturday (20 July) police were called to St Thomas Road.

Officers attended and found a car chase had taken place involving a BMW and another vehicle.

The groups within the cars had then become involved in a fight.

A police spokeswoman said: “Our enquiries are ongoing but we would like to reassure members of the public that we believe the occupants of the cars were known to each other and that this was a targeted incident.”
