Fire crews had to go to the rescue of dog walkers during Sunday (28 July) afternoon.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service sent five crews and a water incident unit to rescue the group who had got into trouble.

With the River Ribble rising swiftly due to heavy rain two people and a dog had become stuck in the river.

Crews rescued the two people and the dog out of the water.

They were given precautionary treatment by the North West Ambulance Service at the scene.

The incident took place at 4pm in the River Ribble near the Capitol Centre in Walton-le-Dale.
