An antiques, collectibles and second-hand shop in Lane Ends is closing down.

This n That in Woodplumpton Road will close on Saturday 20 July after three years of trading. Owners Terry and Louise Norton said a lack of footfall since Christmas had led to the decision.

The antiques and house clearance side of the business will continue to operate, although the details of how and where are to be confirmed.

Louise said: “When we opened there was the wool shop, the gold shop, a butchers, a fruit and veg shop, and the glass lady but they’ve all now gone. What was Robby’s and the shop opposite are up for let and have been empty for a long time.

“We were really hoping that what was Booths would re-open as a shop front but it hasn’t and there’s just no footfall.

“It’s all barbers and charity shops now. People have actually come in thinking we’re a charity shop and then think we’re expensive in comparison, when in fact we’re cheaper than a lot.

“Since Christmas it’s been really hard. We’ve had more custom in this past week since the closing sign has gone up, which is a shame. It’s a been a good experience, though. We took a risk and managed for three years, and we’ve got no regrets.

“The shop has helped us get a good client base and we’re carrying on the buying and selling antiques side, just not in a shop.”
