Drivers are being warned of two years of disruption as the Adelphi roundabout works kick in.
From Monday 10 June traffic diversions and roadworks will begin as the roundabout is turned into Adelphi Square.
The University of Central Lancashire is spending £60million on the new public square and a new student centre is to be built.
UCLan has also revealed exactly how the traffic system will work around the roundabout.

Chief operating officer at UCLan Michael Ahern said: “We will ensure that throughout the highways works, any changes to traffic routes will be regularly and comprehensively communicated to ensure minimal inconvenience for road users.
“Access to businesses and properties will remain open although we would ask the public to allow more time to complete their journeys if they are in the vicinity of the University campus.”
The cut through in the middle of the roundabout, if you’re coming from Fylde Road and wanting to go down Corporation Street is being closed off. This closure runs from 10 June to July 2019.
You won’t be able to turn into Corporation Street from the roundabout, instead you will need to go down Friargate and into Heatley Street. This diversion runs from 10 June to July 2019.
And a diversion route for those going north on Fylde Road, so it doesn’t go by Maudland Road, is also being put in place from 10 June to November this year.
The whole Adelphi Square scheme is due to be complete by summer 2021.
