A lost collie helped restore everyone’s faith in the Internet during Thursday evening.

Molly had escaped from a nearby garden and was found wandering in Avenham Park.

Blog Preston was contacted by a reader who sent us a picture of the border collie.

Within an hour of posting it on Twitter we had the owner and dog reunited.

Retired firefighter Julian Williams had taken the dog in.

He made contact with owner Susan Cross and Molly was safely returned during Thursday (6 June) evening.

Susan said: “It was very emotional as the children were heart broken. Gracie, 17, Ava, 8, and Elsie, 6. Ava was out looking for her with me on Avenham Park as that is where she like to go for a walk.

“With all the bad things going on in the world there are still very kind people about who looked after her and fed her so I thank them from the bottom of my heart for what they did.”
