Dog owner released under investigation following the death of woman in Ribbleton

A man who was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act, after a woman died after being bitten by a dog has been released under investigation.

Sharon Jennings, 55, became very unwell after she was bitten by a dog on the old Railway Lines at Brookfield on Friday May 31st.

She intervened in a fight between her dog and another dog and suffered injuries to her hand and neck.

She sadly died in hospital on Friday June 7.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “A 49 year old man from Preston was arrested yesterday (9 June) on suspicion of offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

“He was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.

“A dog remains seized while our enquiries are ongoing. ”
