Costing £15million the hotel, which draws its name from Bill Shankly, was due to open in April and then a part-opening was stated as June.

With space for 350 guests, a restaurant and a rooftop function room it will be one of the largest hotels in the city.

The Shankly’s parent company, Signature Living, is facing questions about its financial operations after a BBC piece alleged investors are struggling to see a return from the company for rooms bought at the Liverpool hotels it owns.
