A renowned local chest doctor is to host a charity lunch in aid of Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Dr Mohammed Munavvar is President of the European Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (EABIP), and also works as Consultant Chest Physician at Royal Preston Hospital.

Dr Munavvar is supporting Rosemere after it helped bring new kit for the better diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer to RPH before any other hospital in the country.

The charity raised £100,000 for the UK’s first flexible endobronchial ultrasound system (EBUS) in October 2014. Of the money raised, the final £37,000 came as a gift from the Muslim Council of Preston.

Members of the Council will attend the celebratory lunch with Dr Manavvar on Saturday 8 June from 11am to 4pm, at Imperial Banqueting Suite on St Mary’s Street North. Tickets are also on sale for £30 per person from the Rosemere website.

The event will include a reception, three-course meal, presentation and auction of promises. There will also be a photo booth and gift stalls.

Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients from all over Lancashire and South Cumbria. Patients are treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre, the region’s specialist cancer treatment centre at RPH, and at another eight local hospital cancer units.

The charity funds cutting edge equipment like EBUS, research, training and other cancer services that the NHS is unable to afford.
