Work on an empty former home furnishings store in Preston city centre has begun.

The former Allens building in Market Street is being brought back into use as apartments.

Plans for the building were approved last year and workmen have been spotted getting things underway at the site.

Mustaq Bhailok is behind the development and drawings show as well as the 19 apartments in the four-storey block there will also be ground floor and basement space for two retail units and a restaurant and cafe business.
