A traveller site near Preston’s university could be sold off.
Lancashire County Council is consulting on the future of the Leighton Street site close to the University of Central Lancashire campus.
Owned by the county council it does not have a legal requirement to provide them.
Preston City Council manages the site on behalf of the county council.
Residents on the site pay for pitches and the cash-strapped council wants to sell them on, although they must be retained for use as traveller pitches.
A spokesman for the county council said: “This consultation considers a proposal to sell these sites. Council officers have visited the sites to make residents aware of the upcoming consultation.
“We want to hear people’s views about these sites. Our cabinet will then consider all responses very carefully, before making a final decision later this year.”
