The M6 was closed between Leyland and Lostock Hall while police deal with an incident.

Traffic between junction 27 and 28 reached a standstill after reports someone had ‘come off a bridge’ towards Junction 29.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were at the scene.

The southbound carriageway is now open but northbound remains closed.

The motorway reopened northbound just before 5pm on Tuesday.
