Serious crash shuts road in Walton-le-Dale

Police have shut a road in Walton-le-Dale due to a crash.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area after a crash at the junction of Duddle Lane and Severen Drive.

Police confirmed an elderly woman had died in the crash.

The road is closed near the newsagents and access to Walton-le-Dale Primary School is restricted.

The crash took place shortly before 8am on Tuesday (14 May).

Any parent trying to get their children to school are being advised to park in nearby roads and walk down Selkirk Road or Grenville Road to access the school.

Headteacher Mr Shields has advised parents not to walk their pupils near the incident ‘to avoid children becoming possibly distressed’.
