Jazz in the Park is returning to Preston after a 15 year hiatus.
AdvertisementThe event, which previously ran for five years in Avenham Park, is returning in 2019 with Winckley Square as its new home.
Part of Preston Jazz and Improvisation Festival, the free event promises to bring underground Jazz musicians to the city centre Georgian Square with four hours of “uber-cool”.
There will be a DJ set from Outbreak Collective, plus three live performances from Zoë Gilby Trio, Jermaine Peterson, and Vels Trio.
According to organisers, the festival will cater to Jazz aficionados and general music fans alike. Latin, Afrobeat, House, Hip-Hop, and more will be interwoven with the Jazz.
This is the first time Winckley Square has been part of the Preston Jazz and Improvisation Festival, which is taking place across the city from Saturday 1 June to Saturday 8 June.

A statement from the Friends of Winckley Square said: “Come along and relax, enjoy the music, and drink real ale, Pimms or a chilled wine from the pop up bar.”
Jazz in the Park takes place at Winckley Square on Saturday 1 June from 4pm to 8pm.
