It looks like the sun will be fighting to make an appearance this May Bank Holiday weekend.

Prestonians finishing work on Friday for the long weekend will have a grey evening to endure first.

Luckily things should soon start to look up. Here’s our day-by-day guide for what to expect from the weather.

Saturday 4 May

Morning – Get up early for the only full-on sunshine this weekend. After 9am the sun is only appearing in intervals.

Afternoon – The temperature climbs from a low of two degrees overnight to 11 degrees by mid-afternoon.

Evening – Sunny intervals remain until sunset at 8.46pm. While there’s a moderate breeze we shouldn’t see any rain during Saturday.

Sunday 5 May

Morning – The sun is playing hide and seek behind the clouds from sunrise at 5.28am. It’s nine degrees by 11am.

Afternoon – More sunny intervals and a maximum two per cent chance of rain. As on Saturday the highest temperature is 11 degrees.

Evening – Dry and partly cloudy, the temperature drops to seven degrees once the sun has set by 9pm.

Monday 6 May

Morning – Starting off with sunny intervals but the sun is behind the clouds by 9am. There’s a seven per cent chance of rain, the highest all weekend.

Afternoon – There’s a gentle breeze and a high temperature of 11 degrees from 2pm to 5pm. The sun reappears intermittently from 4pm.

Evening – Those sunny intervals continue until sunset at 8.50pm. The temperature drops to eight degrees around 9pm.
