Prestonians have been judged to have one of the sexiest accents in the UK – but not as sexy as a Lancashire accent.

Travel blog Big 7 Travel has counted down results of a survey it conducted on its social media presences.

Preston ranked as 31st out of 50.

Here’s what the travel blog had to say: “Similar to the Blackpool accent, it’s pretty much Lancashire but not as broad. Subtle, but officially less sexy.”

Lancashire though came in at 15th, sandwiched between Somerset and Cardiff.

The survey said: “Love the Lanky accent? Similar to Yorkshire, yet so, so different. Yorkshire say say ‘o’reet’, Lancashire say ‘o’reyt’. Okay, sort of different.”

The top three sexiest accents were Essex, Northern Irish and Glaswegian.
