Police are on the hunt for mobile phone thieves targeting clubbers.

A warning has been issued by police after iPhones were taken from hangbags between 2am and 3.30am at various nightclubs in the city.

A spokesman for police said: “Handbags are being opened and phones are being stolen.

“Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team are working with staff at the nightclub premises to ensure that this does not continue to happen, to ensure a safe enjoyable environment, and that those responsible are caught as soon as possible.

“We are exploring lines of enquiry from CCTV and by working closely with staff members.”

Nine separate reports of smartphone thefts have been made to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
