Plastic bottles are needed to make a giant art installation on the Flag Market this summer.

Sending a message about the fight against plastic waste the Oxheys art collective is once again making a point with its artistic creations.

Last year tinned food was lined up along the flags to highlight poverty in the city and this year plastic is in the spotlight.

Tim Saunders, one of the artists working on the installation, said: “We’re focusing on raising awareness of plastic usage and what we can do about it.

“Making A Mark is looking for people to bring along their clean plastic bottles on the day.

“Once we’ve made the artwork then the bottles will be recycled.”

As well as the recycling art the Making A Mark Event will include the chance to see how a recycling lorry works, a samba band and more.
