New taxi ranks planned for Fishergate side streets

New taxi ranks in Preston city centre have been put forward for approval.

Black cabs will line up in Chapel Street, off Fishergate, and also in Theatre Street.

The existing taxi rank on Market Street is also be moved and become 24-hours. The current rank is available from 6.30pm to 9am.

Space for four taxis will be in Chapel Street and three spaces in Theatre Street.

Taxi drivers say there is the demand and the need in the city centre for the new ranks.

The proposals were approved by councillors on the taxi and miscellaneous committee, and will now go forward to the city council’s cabinet for approval.
