A police chase involving dog units and the forces helicopter brought the M6 to a standstill near Preston.

A stolen vehicle was seen on the M6 northbound between Junction 29 and 31.

One person fled the vehicle and ran across eight lanes of the motorway – northbound and southbound – bringing it to a halt.
