Motorists making an early May Bank Holiday getaway are experiencing long delays on the M61 and M6 northbound.

A crash between Junction 29 northbound of the M6 and another on the M61 northbound beyond Junction 8 are causing delays.

There’s delays of more than 10 minutes back from Junction 8.

Highways England said they have dispatched traffic officers to Junction 29 at Clayton Brook to assist in clearing the scene. All vehicles have now been moved to the hard shoulder.

The M6 has slow traffic northbound from just before Junction 28.

And further north there’s queues from Junction 31 back onto the M61 spur and to Junction 29.

The M6 southbound looks unaffected.
