A Preston butcher who left the Market Hall after complaining it was too cold to work has opened a new shop in New Hall Lane.

Four weeks after Clarke and Sons left the market, saying they were heading for warmer climes, the family firm is up and running in what was Tasty Lane takeaway.

Customers were shocked to see the stall empty and a note saying the butchers would no longer operate from the Market Hall.

A Facebook message explained: “We have left due to the temperature and we are not satisfied overall with how the new market has been built.”

Last week the butchers unveiled their new shop at 448 New Hall Lane.

They are open from 9am to 5.30pm
