Barn fire closes the A6 at Barton

Firefighters are tackling a fire at a barn just to the north of Preston.

Traffic has been halted on the A6 due to the fire which is just off Jepps Lane.

Crews from Fulwood and Preston fire stations were called out around 6.46pm on Wednesday (22 May).

A spokeswoman for the fire service confirmed an air support unit was also in attendance to assess the damage.

The barn is detached and the fire is not thought to have spread to any other buildings.
