City centre businesses came together to celebrate outstanding achievement in retail and leisure during Tuesday evening.

Held at Evoque nightclub the annual Smiles Better Awards saw special recognition awards for Blitz nightclub’s Peter Alexander and the City Star Award went to Friargate’s Townhouse Coffee’s Bernice Marie Newton.

It was a chance for those who spend most of their time serving us on nights out or in the city’s shops to enjoy a bit of downtime.
