A nursery in Penwortham has been spreading cheer in Penwortham.
Maryland’s nursery had its outbuilding damaged by fire and toys were destroyed.
Nursery owner Jennifer Turner said children had delivered cookies to businesses across Penwortham.
A pack of Maryland cookies was dropped through the door of Clarkes Butty Bar and other firms in Liverpool Road.
A note from the children said: “This gift of cookies will hopefully bring a smile to your face.
“The children of Maryland’s nursery in Penwortham, Preston, are sending you this gift as an act of kindness.
“Our nursery recently had a big fire which caused a lot of damage. A dragon was flying over and accidentally coughed and set fire to our building and play area.
“The dragon is very sorry for what he did and will make sure that our nursery is cleaned and fixed soon.
“The children were very sad this happened but wanted to feel happy again so decided to show kind and caring acts to cheer themselves up.
“We have had lots of sad news in Penwortham the last week and we want our community to know that we care and we are learning to be kind people so that when we grow up we can help to look after each other and make Penwortham a nice place to live.
“So enjoy your cookies, and if you are able to, please buy/make some more and pass them onto a friend or neighbour along with this message to make you and them feel good and pass on the kindness.”
