Man from Fulwood charged with racist messages left on city mosque gate posts

A Fulwood man has been charged in connection with racist graffiti on a city mosque.

Masjid-e-Salaam in Watling Street Road was targeted three times during the Easter weekend.

An NHS sign at the complex opposite the mosque was also defaced.

Preston Police made an arrest during Sunday (21 April) and have charged Gavin Edghill, 47, of Lower Bank Road, Fulwood, with four counts of racially aggravated criminal damage and one count of racially aggravated public order.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Preston Magistrates’ Court during Tuesday (23 April).
