Firefighters tackle blaze at derelict building

Firefighters were called to a blaze at an abandoned building in Preston last night.

At around 11.30pm, crews from Preston, Penwortham and Bamber Bridge attended the scene in Maudland Bank.

An aerial ladder was also brought in from Hyndburn, along with the air support unit, to assist in putting out the fire.

The site is part of where new student flats are due to be built close to the University of Central Lancashire campus.

Maudland Road is also closed for two years while the university works on its Adelphi Square development.
